Household Words had its first reading at The National Arts Club in 2007 and then at The English Speaking Union  in 2009.

Household Words is now ready for the next step in its development, a Staged Reading with a view towards an Off Broadway production.

We are committed to a 2012 premiere to coincide with the 200th anniversary of Charles Dicken’s birth.

There has been as much written about Charles Dickens as there has been about Jesus Christ and Shakespeare.

Gregory Murphy’s  first play The Countess (also developed, produced and directed by Ludovica Villar-Hauser on behalf of The Villar-Hauser Theatre Development Fund, Inc.) enjoyed an incredible trajectory:

  1. *634 performances Off Broadway

  2. *Developed at The Greenwich Street Theatre on a Showcase Code.  Converting to a Mini-Contract and then produced on an Off Broadway A, B, C and D contracts.

  3. *Originating production at the intimate Greenwich Street transferring to the Beckett on Theatre Row and finally to the larger Lamb’s Theatre in the Broadway Box.

  4. *The Countess was published by DPS in 2000

  5. *The Countess had a production at The Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford (UK); The Criterion Theatre in the West End; has been performed throughout the US at major regional theatres, in Europe and Asia.  A major production is planned for Brazil in 2011.

  6. *Negotiations are underway for a major motion picture starring Emma Thompson and Orlando Bloom
